About HomeWell of Portland

Meet the Owners: Tim & Kim Spaulding

After Kim’s grandmother lost her husband, Kim could sense the loss of energy and dampened enthusiasm in her grandmother’s voice. She lived out of state, so communication with her consisted of weekly phone calls.

When Tim and Kim visited her one year later, they saw firsthand the physical and emotional changes resulting from living alone. They thought it would be nice for her to have someone to talk to, take her places, help her remember to take her medications, and keep her active in life.

Kim’s grandmother passed away shortly after their visit before they were able to coordinate any services for her. This idea of providing care and companionship stuck with Tim and Kim. A few years later, they were able to turn this idea into a focus for their life efforts. This focus is on hiring and training the best Personal Assistants (caregivers) to help the elderly in need of companionship and personal care services. Their agency, HomeWell of Portland, set itself apart from the start.

Each Personal Assistant has a minimum of 1,000 hours of experience. Great care is taken to ensure that each Personal Assistant is properly trained and supervised, and that client care plans are personalized and updated regularly.

Tim has a Bachelor’s degree and Master’s degree in teaching from Portland State University. Kim is a CPA with a Business and Accounting degree from Oregon State University. Both Tim and Kim are active in their community and devote themselves to the people around them.
